Yukon Salon: A Beary Hairy Game

Created by David Fooden

Yukon Salon is a creative, fast-paced card game for 2-4 players competing to be the best stylist in the Yukon by styling hairdos for Grizzly Bears and beards for Lumberjacks. Each client that you style rewards you with a combination of points to win the game and abilities and bonuses to help attempt riskier styles on more difficult clients. Sway the clients into choosing your style by making outrageous, unique claims and press your luck to earn the right mix of points and rewards.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Surveys are out!
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 03, 2017 at 06:05:50 PM

Hey everyone, just a quick update to let you know the surveys have gone out! You'll need to fill them out and add shipping for me to be able to send your game to you.

I wanted to include an option for local backers in Seattle to be able to pick up their games and not pay a shipping fee, but it didn't work in Backerkit's set-up (I would have had to have made a special pledge level for it during the Kickstarter campaign). But, if you're local and would like to pick up your copy, let me know and I can refund your shipping costs then.

Please let me know if you have any questions, I'll do my best to get you sorted out!

As always, thanks!

Survey Corrections
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 03, 2017 at 05:45:13 PM

If you have already filled out your survey, first of all, thanks for getting on that so quickly. Second of all, please go review your survey. I didn't realize BackerKit added your pledge amount as credit when I was setting it up, and created the add-on items to be no cost, causing some confusion since folks should have the appropriate amount for them added as credit in the Backerkit "store"

You can access your survey here: https://yukonsalon.backerkit.com
or in the original email.

Note: You should have credit equal to your pledge amount in Backerkit to spend on the add-ons you backed for (additional copies beyond 2, extra dice, etc.)

If you have any questions, please PM me and I'll get it sorted out as soon as I can. I apologize for the confusion.

Thank you to the backers who messaged me to point this out!

Surveys, Norwescon, and Tabletop Day
about 7 years ago – Thu, Apr 13, 2017 at 05:02:21 PM

Hey everyone. Thanks for your patience while I set up the backer surveys. I just triple-checked all the details and submitted it to Backerkit for approval. If everything's set up correctly, they should be going out to everyone on Monday!

Meanwhile, game production is coming along. All of the writing for the Beautician's Training Manual is in and everything's still on-schedule for August delivery.

Once the surveys go out I'll be in touch with anyone who pledged for a custom card and get those underway.

I'll be a panelist at Norwescon this weekend. if you're attending, please say hello! A couple of contributors to the Beautician's Training Manual are panelists there as well.

And lastly, if you're interested in running a Yukon Salon event at your local game store for International Tabletop Day on April 29th, please message me ASAP. I have a very limited number of pre-production copies available for folks who'd like to play Yukon Salon demos at Tabletop Day events.

Thanks for your support!

Getting everything prepped…also shirts!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Mar 01, 2017 at 04:17:39 PM

Hey everyone!

I'm working on getting the backer survey prepared while waiting for Kickstarter to process everyone's pledges and finalizing all of the production details with the manufacturer.

I've had a few people inquire about shirts, so now Yukon Salon has a Threadless store! Want a Beauty Bear or Parks & Beauty Agency shirt? Get 'em right here!

We did it!

Wow! Thank you all so much for your support. I'm overjoyed to say that because of you all, this odd game idea I've had for the past few years is going to be a reality soon.

I'll continue to update you as all the details fall into place getting the game into production over the next few weeks, and as the writing comes in on the Beautician's Training Manual. I'll also be sending out backer surveys, and…all of these other things on my production schedule! Feel free to contact me with any questions in the meantime.

But tonight, I'm going to make like this bear here:

Goodnight everyone!

Wait…

…there's one last thing.

Once I get everything into production, I'm going to start playtesting this…
